VelATL

Honest comparison

VelATL vs OpenRouter.

OpenRouter is good software and we recommend it in our own guides. This page is about the one thing it doesn't do: let you pay in rupees, run a full AI workspace on the same money, and see our margin. Pick the right tool - sometimes it really is them.

Choose OpenRouter when…

You want the widest model zoo, the absolute cheapest tokens on a specific model, or a free-tier model for prototyping. It's the right default for pure API usage.

Choose VelATL when…

You want UPI/INR billing, one balance across a web workspace, API, MCP and images, automatic refunds on failed calls, per-key spend caps, and published cost margins.

The pricing model, in one paragraph

OpenRouter passes provider tokens through at cost plus a small fee; you pay in USD per million tokens, per model. VelATL pegs every thing to credits (100 credits ≈ ₹1): a chat reply costs what the model's per-1k rate says it costs, research and images have flat published fees, and the same ledger bills the browser, the API and MCP. Neither is "cheaper" in the abstract - compare the cost leaderboard and the pricing page against the specific models you actually run.
